The College Essay on Music Quartet and What Each Member DidAs the musical world celebrates the life and musical genius of John Mayall, the music group The Faces has taken up the fight to declare that each of its members had a substantial role in John's life and it was this dedication that was instrumental in keeping him alive. After decades of silence, The Faces finally answers the question of how much the original four consisted of when it comes to their musical contributions and if any of the original four deserve a place at the Christmas dinner table this year.Although The Faces actually composed of two versions of a song featuring John Mayall and it was his deep connection with the band that first got him involved in the band, he will be remembered as one of the band's most passionate fans. His love for The Faces would lead him to seek the company of other popular and respected rock musicians such as Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, Chris Squire and Neil Young to join him in creating a band that would continue to defy expectations. As if by magic the band still existed when Mayall passed away.While attending junior high school classes, Mayall worked with keyboardist Peter Heath and drummer Tom Morton to create The Faces and it was while working with them that he began to work on his own music. His earliest versions of songs featured numerous guitars and bass but it was not until his sophomore year in high school that he began to realize his passion for making music. As he moved into high school and began taking university classes at the University of Southern California, he studied the students that he admired and most of them were students that played instruments, including Dave Clark.Clark was one of the few classmates Mayall found himself wishing he could have known during his time at USC. He felt that, despite their age difference, Clark and Mayall's respect for each other did not go unnoticed. In fact, he saw Clark's first two albums as very influential in his creative process, with each album containing a new guitar style and sound that Clark would incorporate into his music.Just as in the case of the Face Records, just as the band John Mayall formed was growing, so too was the style and sound of the band, and as he graduated from USC, he began touring the country with his band. He joined other bands and met other musicians in between which he continued to develop his own style of music while at the same time growing in stature within the music industry.Just as when he was growing up, his influence still continued to grow within the music industry. He attended a San Francisco nightclub to meet with some artists and was asked to speak with some publicists but instead decided to choose a club where he could find those individuals. As he took his seat, he saw in front of him a small group of people who all shared the same passion and were very respectful of each other and his career as an artist.While these individuals were no longer yo ung adulthood, they were adults, and he chose to take them under his wing because of their respect and recognition of what they were hearing. His time spent in the clubs, theatres and in college with all of them contributed greatly to his skill as an artist, producer and performer.
